In the USA, the Halo Multiplayer Beta Test positions are being given out like a lottery. Here's a list of Sites for the rest of you around the world to apply for THEIR tickets. Best of luck to you all! **UPDATE!* The US is eligible for these Euro tickets too (some of them).
In the USA, the Halo Multiplayer Beta Test positions are being given out like a lottery. According to Microsoft, as of Yesterday morning, there were 140,000 applicants at http://www.halo3.com .
It's not currently known what percentage of those are valid (over 18, linked gamertag, Gold Live membership, US Resident, etc.)
Quote: "The rest of the world" has 3400 slots, according to halo.bungie.org repeating the official announcement from Microsoft. Apparently, there are 33 XCN (Xbox Community Network) sites around the world, and each of them have 100 beta tester spots availible to give away. There are an additional 100 European slots, but I have no idea where those are being given away. One of the XCN companies decided to SELL codes for the Beta, and has since been blacklisted from participating, and Microsoft will no longer show support for them in any way.
Most of the XCN sites are giving away their slots through very basic contests that are really just borderline versions of lotteries. For example, at Total360.com which we mentioned in an earlier news posting, they only required you to name the developer of Halo (Bungie Studios).
(Update- Total360's contest is open to worldwide entrants!?)
It's not currently known how many US spots are availible, but at a guess I'd suggest that there's likely to be about 3,000 US slots. I figure that if they had 3400 for the US and 3400 for everyone else, I think the European market would get pretty ticked off. Yet, at the same time.. you know.. it's real popular over here, etc.
In any event, here's a list of Sites for folks around the world to apply for THEIR tickets.
**UPDATE** SOME of these competitions are open to worldwide entrants, according to Neil, over at Totally360.com So, let's go enter 'em all?! Does that sound right to anyone??
